Betty Ruth Georges, 87, passed away Saturday, June
26, 2010 at home.
Born April 21, 1923 in Haubstadt, she was the daughter of Ernest C. and
Faye B. (Wirth) May.
She graduated from Fort Branch High School and was a homemaker. She was united in Marriage to Vincent “Vince”
Georges on Feb. 20, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton by Father Nicholas Hassel. She was a
member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Oakland City
and the General John Gibson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of
American Revolution.
Betty enjoyed flowers, gardening, DAR
meetings, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include four sons and two
daughters, Roger (Jeannie) of Lynnville, Ronald (Charlet)
of Elberfeld, Tanya (Charles) Gries
of Alvaton, Ky., Richard, Victoria (Jeffrey) Martin,
and Ruben of Fort Branch; two half-sisters, Sharlet
Sills and Brenda Hayes of Oakland City; a step-brother, William Rowe of
Winslow; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband, Vincent on July 17, 2005; two brothers, Charles W. and Doris Allen May; a
step-brother, Jerry Rowe; a step-sister, Sharon Boost; and a daughter-in-law,
Karen (Holzmeyer) Georges.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 29, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Father
Ronald S. Zgunda officiating. Burial will follow at
St. Bernard Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City.
A DAR memorial and rosary service will be at 6:30 and 7 p.m.
