Ruth Collins, 96,
was called home to be with her Lord, Thursday, June 3, 2010.
She was born May 4, 1914 in Evansville and moved to Princeton in 1932 where she resided until moving to Tualatin, Ore. in 2007 to live with her daughter, Sandra
Thompson.
Mrs. Collins was best known by scores of Princeton students and residents as the Princeton High School cafeteria supervisor for many years. She was a prolific creator
of hand-sewn and highly detailed quilts, many of which remain lovingly
displayed in homes of relatives and local residents. She was a
member of the Village Homemakers, Verlie’s Quilters
and the Princeton Senior Center. Her church memberships included Trinity
Lutheran in Darmstadt, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Princeton and Living Savior Lutheran Church in Tualatin, Ore.
She is survived by a son, James of
Klamath Falls, Ore.; a daughter, Sandra Thompson of Tualatin, Ore.; a sister,
Esther Tepker of Stratford, Ontario;
Locally she is survived by 10 grandchildren, including Christopher Kidd and
Valerie Heim; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of
50 years, M.L. Collins; a son, Larry Collins; and a daughter, Diane Kidd.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 101 Richland Creek Dr., Princeton, with Pastor Karen McNeill-Utecht
officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Princeton.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Colvin Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the
church.
Also, a memorial service, will take
place Friday, June 18, 2010
at Living Savior Lutheran Church in Tualatin, Ore.
