Billy W. Carpenter, 86
passed away Monday May 24, 2010 at the VNA Charlier
Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born October 24, 1923 in Dix,
Illinois to William and Ona (Smith)
Carpenter. He had lived in Princeton most of his life moving here from Dix. He was
retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations where he worked for several years. He was
a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army where he received a Purple Heart.
Bill was a former member of the V.F.W. Post 1147, American Legion Post 25 and
the Moose Lodge. He loved his dog Jigger and enjoyed sitting on his front porch
swing.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia "Jenny" Carpenter,
Princeton; sister and brother-in-law, Sarita and Joe Kinsall, Princeton; foster daughter, Pam Caddell, Evansville; his caregivers and dear friends, Marla
Speed and Nellie Bobbitt; and nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Delores Stelzer.
Funeral services will be held at the graveside at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Princeton, with the Rev. Brian Cook officiating. Burial will
follow the service. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton. V.F.W. Post 1147 will conduct military services at the cemetery.
