William R. Smith, 86, passed away Friday April 30, 2010 at the Waters of Princeton. 

He was born July 15, 1923 in Albion, Ill. to Vernon R. and Bessie (Sumner) Smith. 

He was a plumber and pipe fitter working in construction for many years.  He was veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.

 Bill attended Princeton High School and was a member of the Eagles of Princeton and was a life member of the V.F.W. in Spokane Wash. He lived in Princeton and moved to the state of Washington where he resided more than 25 years. He then moved back to Princeton where he lived the last 10 years.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed going bowling whenever he could.

 He is survived by his wife, Frieda (Newton) Smith of Princeton; a daughter and son-law, Dona and James Minnis of Petersburg; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Smith of Spokane, Wash.; four grandchildren, Wendy Goldsmith, Spicy Huck, Brian, Steven Smith; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Vernetta Arbuthnot, Dorothalea Reinhart and Arlene Pritchett.
