Irma M. Lindy, 91, passed away Thursday, April
15, 2010 at The Waters of
Princeton. She lived in Princeton since 1957, coming from Hazleton.
She was member of Hillside United Methodist Church. She retired in 1982 after 40 years as a school teacher at Petersburg, Mackey, Princeton Lowell School and Princeton Community Middle School. She graduated from Indiana University in 1941 and received her master's degree from Indiana State University. She was a member of National Education Association,
Indiana State Teachers Association, Gibson County Education Assoc., Delta Kappa
Gamma, Alpha Delta Kappa, American Home Economics Association, Gibson County
Art Guild, Gibson County Historical Society, Erie Canal Association, Business
and Professional Women, and was known as the "Art Lady" at Brumfield Elementary School for 20 years.
Irma was born April 9, 1919 in Hazleton, to William Wright and Dora E. (Hays) Lindy, both
now deceased. Her brothers, Ivle K., Calvin A. and
Adrian M. "Buzz" Lindy, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her seven nieces, Brenda Wittrock of Vincennes, Venita
(Jerry) Oursler of Princeton, Amelia (Chris) Green of
Mooresville, Sherry Matsel of Fairborn, Ohio, Sue
(Stephen) Wolaver of Beavercreek, Ohio, Bonnie
(Steve) Fugate of Fairborn, and Lisa (Rick) Gift of Maryville, Tenn.; several
great nieces and nephews and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Betty (Foster) Lindy
of Fairborn.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday April 21, at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with Rev. Craig Duke officiating. Burial will be at Union Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home.
