Dr. James Leroy Holder Age 87 died on April 18, 2010 at Transcendent Healthcare Center of Owensville, In. He was born on December 1, 1922 in Owensville IN to the late Mary Louise (Blesch) and Earl Holder. Dr Holder is also preceded in
death by 2 younger sisters, Geraldine and Alberta and a brother, Donald.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church where he was a Elder and taught Sunday School
for many years. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Fort Branch and a present member of the Optimist Club of Fort
Branch, a Life member of the VFW Post #2714 and a Life Member of the Haubstadt
American Legion. During the 1960s he was Cub Scout Master of Pack 242. He was a
school board member of the South Gibson School Corporation for many years.
He joined the Air Corps in 1940, serving in
WWII until August 1945. He graduated from Evansville College in 1950 and the IU School of Dentistry in 1953 and practiced dentistry
until he retired when his son continued his practice. He was a member of 1st
District Dental Society, Indiana Dental Association, American Dental
Association and MESOGP.
Dr Holder is survived by his wife of 62
years Lois (Vaught) Holder, daughter, Janet (James) Schmitt of Fort Branch,
sons, James (Donna) Holder of Raleigh, NC, and Dr. Bruce (Sherry) Holder of
Fort Branch. A sister, Bettye
(Ralph) Bailey of Greenwich, CT and Naples FL and a brother, Charles (Cele) Bleckmann of Kettering, OH. Grandchildren Matthew (Sara) Schmitt, Curtis
Schmitt, and Wyatt Schmitt, Mary Beth and Jennifer Holder, Grant, Kelsey and
Blake Holder and one great grandchild, Tristan Schmitt and many nieces and
nephews.
Services for Dr Holder will be Thursday, April
22, 2010 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Dr Jim Cramer and Reverend Tarrell Thompson officiating with burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Graveside Military Services conducted by the
VFW Post #2714 of Fort Branch
Visitation will be Wednesday, April
21, 2010 from 3:00pm to 8:00 pm at the Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch.
