Michael D. Wilson of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010.

Born Feb. 21, 1944, in Mattoon, Ill., he was the son of Edward D. and Lola Vee Wilson.

Mike graduated from Frankfurt American High School in Germany, attended American University in Paris, France, and earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo. as a missile launch control officer from 1968-1972. After an honorable discharge as captain, he was employed by Taylor Foods as a grocery store manager in Mattoon, Ill., and Princeton, then worked as general manager for 13 years. He was then owner/operator of Tom’s Food franchise vending business in the Wabash Valley for 16 years.

He served as president of Gibson County United Way and was a board member for four years. He was a Gibson County YMCA board member and capital fundraising chairman, a member of Gibson County Area Rehabilitation Center’s board of directors, president of Gibson Youth Soccer League and a Gibson County school advisory board member.

He married Susan Jean Krueger March 7, 1970.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Jean Wilson; sons, Adam (Alison) of Fishers, Nathan (Amy) of Carmel; two grandchildren; a sister; a brother; four nephews; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church with cremation to follow.
