Donald G. “PopZiliak, 74, of Haubstadt, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton.

Born May 9, 1935 in Haubstadt, he was the son of John and Mildred (Zehner) Ziliak.

Don was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt and the Haubstadt Knights of Columbus. He was a Korean war veteran and served in the U.S, Marine Corp. He was a member of the Fort Branch VFW Post 2714. He was retired from the Norfolk and Southern Railroad.

Survivors include three sons, Randy (Jamie) Ziliak of Haubstadt, Robert (Laurie) Ziliak of Fort Branch, Ryan (Jody) Ziliak of Sherwood, ND; four stepchildren, Sherry (Doug) Barnhart of Calsot, Ark., Darryl Adams of Evansville, Dale Adams of Rockport, Shelly (Paul) Cooper of Dale; a brother, David Ziliak of Ferdinand; six grandchildren; one  great-grandchild; 10 step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara (Simpson) Ziliak, who passed away June 14, 2003; and a son, Roger Ziliak, who passed away April 9, 1967.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at  Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Haubstadt with Father Tony Ernst and Father John Sasse the co-celebrants. Military services will follow the mass outside of the church on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at Stodghill Funeral Home on Ind. 168 West in Fort Branch. A rosary will be recited by the church parish at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
