Robert E. "Bob" York Sr. age 67 passed away Tuesday January 12, 2010, at his home in Patoka. He was born in Chicago, IL March 28, 1942 to Hubert C. and Mable (King) York. He was a decorated Veteran serving in the U.S. Army for 20 years from 1960 to 1980. After retiring from the military he became a truck driver and retired from North American Van Lines. He had lived in the Princeton and Patoka area since 1985 moving from Ft. Leonard Wood MO where he was stationed.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and watching westerns. He was a member of The Tabernacle Church in
Princeton and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1147, and a member of the N.R.A. He had received two Bachelors and three Associate Degrees.

He is survived by his wife: Carmeletta (Hoover) York, Patoka, his mother: Mable A. York, Olney, IL, three children: Dina J. (Lenny) Shipley, Patoka, Angelia N. Gayer, Mt. Carmel and Robert E. (Cindy) York Jr., Doolittle, MO, two brothers: Derek L. (Sally) York, Noble, IL and Thomas C. York, Hutsonville, IL, ten grandchildren: Michael Shipley, Shaynoah L (Jeremy) Sharp, Brett Shipley, Erica Georges, Michael Georges, Christian J. York, Nikolas K. Wiley, Braydon A. Wiley, Summer R. Wiley and Drake T. York, three great grandchildren: Gavin and Josalin Sharp and Zachary Dumbach, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Hubert C. York and a brother: Darvin W. York.

Funeral services will be
7 p.m. Friday January 15, 2010 at the Colvin Funeral Home, Princeton with the Rev. Randall Duncan officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday January 16, 2010 in the Chapel at Cresthaven Cemetery in Olney, IL. Family and friends will gather in the parking lot of Colvin Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. to follow to the cemetery. Military services will be held at the cemetery.
