Genevieve H. Pirkle,
82, of Fort Branch, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2009 at the Gibson General Hospital Skilled Care Unit
in Princeton.
Born Aug. 14, 1923 in Gibson County, she was the daughter of John Henry and Emma (Kruse) Meyer.
She resided here her entire life.
Genevieve graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1941 and was a graduate of the Lockyear Business College in Evansville. She worked at Emge Meat
Packing Co. in Fort Branch and was part owner of the Pirkle
Grocery Store. She retired from the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Fort Branch after 16 years of service. She also was Union Township Trustee for a
couple of years. She was a member of the St. Lucas United Church of Christ in
Fort Branch.
Survivors include three children and their
spouses, Stephen Pirkle of Newburgh, Trudy (Gerald)
Bledsoe of Fort Branch, Lisa (Tom) Parker of Evansville; five grandchildren,
Adam Bledsoe, Mina Pirkle, Toby Pirkle,
Nigel Parker and Sarah Parker.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
seven brothers and sisters, Elsie Wilderman, Ruth
English, Gertrude Meyer, George Meyer, Raymond Meyer, Lester Meyer and John
Meyer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov.16, 2009 at St. Lucas United Church of
Christ in Fort Branch, with the Rev. John Heumann officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15th, 2009 at Stodghill
Funeral home on Ind. 168 West in Fort Branch and from noon until service time at the church on Monday.
