PETERSBURG - Jeanette M. Thomas, 74, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at the Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

She was born April 10, 1935 in Lawrence Mass. to Albert and Mary (Carpenter) Tardiff.

On Nov. 22, 1953 she married Marion Thomas and he survives.

Jeanette lived in Petersburg for the past 44 years moving there from Martinsville.

She was a homemaker and salesperson for Fuller Brush for 10 years. She was member of the Petersburg Church of the Nazarene where she sang in the church choir. She was also a volunteer with the Daviess County Hospital in Washington where she was a pink lady. She helped with the PTO as a member and a officer and was also a 4-H leader.

She is survived by a son Philip Thomas of Petersburg; two daughters, Mary Thomas of Winslow, Jean (Thomas) Smith of Petersburg; four grandchildren, Eric Smith, Jessica (Smith) Aldridge, Amy Mitchell, Ethan Rolens; one great-grandchild, Payton Readle; two brothers, Albert Tardiff and Leo Tardiff both of Florida; three sisters, Theresa Conner, Doris "Dee" Spencer and Jean Wallace, all of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons Jerry and Andrew Thomas; two sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. (EDT) Wednesday Oct. 21, 2009 at the Petersburg Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Michael P. Elliott officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday EDT at the Petersburg Church of the Nazarene and 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour at the church. Interment will be at a later date. Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City is handling the arrangements.
