HAUBSTADT — Alice Elizabeth (Bush) Strickland, 97, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 at home.

Born June 22, 1912, she was the daughter of William Orville and Brittie Ethel (Bowman) Bush.

She was a member of the Gibson County Extension Homemakers Club and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She attended the First Christian Church of Owensville.

Survivors include by her children, Jerald W. (R. Cecile) Strickland of Houston, Texas, Wanda L. (Donald) Brown of Eldorado, Ill.; brothers, John Bush of Jasper, William O. Bush, Jr. of Owensville; sisters, Maxine Newman of Haubstadt, Margaret Yeager of Seymour; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Edward Strickland in 1997; brothers, Robert and James Bush; and sister, Marcelle Dierlam.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with the Rev. Ronald Reed and Bart Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Owensville Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
