EVANSVILLE — Adrain D. Williams, 84, of, Evansville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at Health South Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital.

He was born March 8, 1925 in Gibson County. Adrain retired from Alcoa in 1989 where he had served as a maintenance mechanic for 26 years. He enjoyed mechanical work throughout his life.

Adrain and his wife owned and operated Williams Grocery Store for eight years at Snake Run. He was a United States Navy veteran. During the war, he was also a shipyard worker on the LST’s and a mechanic at Republic Aviation. Adrain attended the Evansville General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth (Riley) Williams of Evansville; sons, Larry (Jane) Williams of Fort Branch, Dennis Williams of Evansville; grandsons, Brian Williams and his wife, Mary, Kevin Williams and his wife, Richelle and Curtis; great- grandchildren, Maddon and Max; brother, Ora Williams of Fort Branch; special friends, Nora and J.R. Miller, Lynda and Gary Kinnaman, Lynn and Mike Cromer, Jane Miller; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 



He is preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Rosie (Jenkins) Williams; sister, Beulah Memmer; brothers, Virgil and Ancel.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, with the Rev. James Pickerill officiating. Burial will be at Providence Church Cemetery in Francisco.

Friends may visit 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 and Thursday from noon until service time at Browning Funeral Home.
