OWENSVILLE — Charles J. “Shine” Taylor, 85, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Born Oct. 19,1923 in Patoka, he was the son of Marvel Lamar and Edith Mae (Stevens) Taylor.

Shine graduated from Patoka High School. He was a master mechanic and worked for Elpers Motors in Fort Branch and retired from AMAX Coal in 1987. He was a member of the Owensville First General Baptist Church.

Survivors include, children, Dick (Judi) Taylor of Naples, Fla., Mick (Percilla) Taylor of Owensville, Maria Adams of Princeton, Danny (Mona) Taylor of Owensville, Garry (Tina) Taylor of Princeton, Connie Bernhardt of Evansville; sister, Carol (Bill) Dyball of Owensville; two nieces, Marva Garrett (Jack Nahlan), Sue Garrett; grandchildren, Brooke Taylor, Somer (AJ) Adams, Jereme Taylor, Jennifer (Steven) Lintzenich, Dana Adams, Brad (Sheila Adams, Heather (Bill) Brady, Chad Taylor, Corey (Amber) Taylor, Kylie (Matt) Nicolosi, Bryce Taylor, Ryan (Anne) Bernhardt, Kyle (Jessica) Bernhardt; great-grandchildren, Ryan Adams, Taylor Lintzenich, Dylan and Marissa Adams, Collin and Taylor Brady, Lane and Landon Taylor, Ben Bernhardt; three step great-grandchildren; as well as his most recent family, Gibson General Fifth Floor Skilled Nursing Unit friends and employees.

 

He was preceded by his parents; and wife, Anna Marie (Sights) Taylor in 1997.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with the Rev. Bob Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the Owensville Cemetery

Visitation will
be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
