OWENSVILLE, Ind. — Sylvia Lucille (Dike) Smith, 88, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at River Oaks Health Campus.

She was born on January 31, 1921, to Griff Webster and Nettie Caroline (Hurt) Dike.

She was an office manager at G&T Industries in Evansville for 33 years.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1147 and Eagles Auxiliary Post No. 361 in Princeton. She loved watching the Kentucky Wildcats and Boston Celtics.

Survivors include daughters, Peggy Martin of Washington, Ill., Jeanie (Jim) Tomey of Princeton, and Cynthia (Lee) Barriball of Oakland City; sons, Gary (Bertha) Smith, Jerry (Kathy) Smith, and Dickie Smith, all of Owensville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Smith; daughters, Joyce Ann Smith and Sandra Young; brother, Edgar Dike; and sister, Clara Bell Garrett.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 27, at Holders Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maumee Cemetery. Pastor Tammy Scheller will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 on Sunday at the funeral home.
