HEFLIN, Ala. — Donnie Ray Smith, 67, of Heflin, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at his home.

Born Sept. 2, 1941 in Francisco, he was the son of John T. and Ruby M. (Morris) Smith.

He was a 1960 graduate of Francisco High School. He served aboard the USS Donnor while in the US Navy. He was a member of Pinetucky Baptist Church

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; son, Larry Don (Robbie) ; daughter, Stephanie, of Tahlequah, Okla.; stepchildren, Sonja Sims, David, Vestal, and Matthew White, all of Alabama; brothers, Doyle Smith (Anita) of Sedona, Ariz., Dannie Smith (Bonnie) of Bedford; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were at Pinetucky Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
