PRINCETON, Ind. — Carlyle "Cork" Shannon, 79,
passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in
Evansville. He was born Feb. 23, 1930,
in Mount Erie, Ill.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired in 1993 from Whirlpool
Corporation where he had worked for 33 years. He was a member of the United
Presbyterian Church in Princeton and longtime sexton at Archer
Cemetery in Princeton.
He enjoyed photography, traveling, playing cards, meeting people and a good
meal.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Woods) Shannon;
and daughter, Lori Shannon McKee (Patrick) of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Four sisters preceded him in death: Wyant Shannon,
Felicia Howery, Marie Shelton, and Mavis Osie Clem.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, July 11, 2009, at
the United Presbyterian Church in Princeton, with the
Rev. Barry Wynveen officiating. Visitation will be
from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton
and again from 9 a.m. until the
service hour on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Archer
Cemetery in Princeton.
VFW 1147 will provide military rites at the cemetery.
