HAZLETON, Ind.
— Margaret Ann Elliott, 87, died Thursday,
April 30, 2009, at her residence.
She was born in Gibson County, Ind.,
on November 12, 1921,
daughter of James Larney Caniff
and Permilla Pauline Dunn Caniff.
She married Gordon Cunningham Elliott on October 4, 1944, in Henderson,
Ky., he preceded
her in death on September 17, 1992.
Also preceding her in death were her sister, Martha Lee Fisher and brother,
James Caniff Jr.
She was a registered nurse and retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in 1984 after
30 years. She was a member of the Hazleton
United Methodist
Church. She graduated from the St.
Anthony School of Nursing in 1944 and was an active member of the Womens Republican Committee of Gibson County. She was also
a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Patoka Chapter #281.
Surviving are sons, Gordon Cary (Shannon) Elliott of Blairsville, Ga., and
James Curtner Elliott of Monroe, Mich.; daughter,
Cassandra (Mark) Budden of Hazleton; grandchildren, Staci (Greg) DeRenne of Auburn,
Calif., David (Amy) Elliott of San Antonio, Texas, Brian Seifers
of Evansville and Hannah and Hayley Elliott of New
Salisbury, Ind.; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to SouthernCare
Hospice for the loving care given to Margaret.
Services noon Tuesday May 5, 2009, at Doyle Funeral Home,
located at 520 S. Main St. Princeton,
Ind., the officiant
will be the Rev. Paul Huntsman, with interment in Shilo Cemetery
in Hazleton.
Visitation is Monday, May 4, 2009
from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Order of The Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, May 5, from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon.
