PRINCETON, Ind.
— Donald "Don" L. Stone, 77, passed away on Sunday March 8, 2009, at the Deaconess
Gateway Hospital
in Newburgh.
He attended Patoka High
School. Don was a member of the Broadway
Christian Church in Princeton. He retired in 1995, after
37 years from Hansen's Manufacturing. He was active with the band boosters for
several years. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. Don loved
hunting, fishing, camping and repairing mopeds. He also loved spending time
with his grandsons.
He was born on February 6, 1932,
in Martin County, Indiana, to Robert & Augusta (White) Stone, both
deceased. Also preceding him in death were his brother, Gouge Stone; and his
son-in-law, Kevin Sumner.
Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat Stone of Princeton; 2 daughters
and son-in-law, LaTricia Sumner of Princeton and
Becky and John Douglas of Owensville; 2 grandchildren, Gunner and Kix Douglas; mother-in-law, Valieta
DeBord; brothers and sisters, Sandy (Pete) Bishop of
Huntington, Ala., Mabel Rainey of Owensboro, Ky., Bob (Shelby) Stone of
Franklin, Ky., Paul (Mary Ann) Stone of Bowling Green, Ky., Bill (Henrietta)
Stone of Newburgh, Roberta Pugh of Foley, Ala., and Rowena (Jim) Armstrong of
Foley, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Wednesday, March 11, 2009,
at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev.
John Dunn and Rev. Linda Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview
Cemetery rural Princeton.
Friends may visit from 3 until 7 p.m.
today at the funeral home. VFW Post 1147 will conduct military graveside
services.
