OAKLAND CITY, Ind. — Janet "Jan" Bee Byrn, 71, of Oakland City, Ind., entered rest on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at 1:50 a.m. Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.

She was born on November 27, 1937, Monroe City to Arbutus Bee (Safford) and Duane Gentry.

She graduated from Monroe City High School and beauty school. Owned and operated Jan's Salon of Beauty for 35 years in Oakland City until she retired in 1996. She was a member of Oak Grove General Baptist Church and Princeton VFW Post 1147.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Joe Wendall Byrn, they where married on June 10, 1955; son, Kent (Vickie) Byrn of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Kathi (Troy) Green of Princeton; grandchildren, Jason and Nicolette Byrn, both of Evansville, Ami Jo (Ryan) Koberstein of Newburgh, Russell Green of North Carolina, and Keaton Green Princeton; great-grandchild, Stella Rian Koberstein of Newburgh; sister-in-law, Janice Summers of Detroit, Mich.; special uncle more like brother, James L. Gentry of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Tony Phillips officiating. Burial will take place Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to services on Thursday at the Chapel.
