John (1807-1879) and Mary (1816-1879) Nafe

John and Mary (Steward) Nafe removed to Indiana in 1849 from Pennsylvania, settling two miles East of Leiter's Ford. John Nafe's father, Henry (1779-1857), lived in Maryland, and sources say his father, Hans Naf, was originally from Switzerland. (Refer to: List of Swiss Emigrants in the Eighteenth Century to the American Colonies" pg. 93. Left Walliselen, 8 May 1743. pg. 93). John and Mary Nafe were among the first families to settle in Fulton County, and they had 5 sons:

James Henry Nafe (1836-1915) m. Sarah Mehrling
Samuel L. Nafe (1839-1904) m. Cyrenitia
David Stewad Nafe (1841-1919) m. Hannah Mehrling in 1862
Johnathan Charles Nafe (1844-1927) m.  Ella V. Myers
