Hoover Township was named after him after he and his family removed here from North Carolina in 1835. He was born in Randolph County, NC, and in 1802 his family moved to Miami County, Ohio where he married Sarah Curtis in 1807. Records show he was a millwright, Justice of the Peace, and a surveyor - a job that took him to Fulton County in 1835. The original 1836 tract book of Fulton County shows atleast 20 land entries under the name of Henry Hoover. His son was Dr. Jerome Hoover, and he is the great-great-great uncle of President Herbert Hoover. Although I could not find his grave, his obituary mentions he died in Nebraska in 1861, where I assume his body remained. His wife, Sarah, having preceded him in death was interred at Runkle-Clark Cemetery in 1851.
