WYNKOOP, Robert Lewis

Covington – Robert Lewis Wynkoop, 46, resident of Brookston most of his life and a pharmacist here six years was found dead in his car three miles south of here about noon Sunday.  Fountain County Coroner Robert B. Shelby ruled death due to carbon monoxide poisoning.  Authorities found a hose leading from the car’s exhaust pipe to the inside of the vehicle.  A native of Lafayette, Mr. Wynkoop was a pharmacist at Burrin Pharmacy here.  He graduated from Brookstone HS in 1938 and from Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 1946.  A veteran of World War II, Mr. Wynkoop was a member of Brookston Federated Church, was a past commander of American Legion 251 at Brookston and was a member of Masonic Lodge 66, Covington Lions Club and American Legion Post 291 at Covington.  He was married in 1945 at Wolcott to the former Pauline Allen, who survives with two sons, Eric at Purdue and Brian at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. SM Wynkoop of Brookstone and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Dawkins and Mrs. June Doorley of Memphis, Tenn.  ---kbz
