Mrs. Kate Welch Wurtsbaugh, 814 1/2 North Vermilion street, a resident of Danville for 12 years, died at 4:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth hospital of complications that followed an operation undergone Saturday. The deceased was born April 17, 1874, at West Lebanon, Ind., and was the daughter of Thomas and Ellen Fletcher Welch, natives of Ireland. She spent her youth in or near West Lebanon and continued to reside in that community for about fifteen years following her marriage to Amazon Carlisle Wurtsbaugh, of Marshfield, Ind., who died Dec. 6, 1926. They were wed Feb. 18, 1891, by Thomas E. Webb, Methodist minister at Williamsport, Ind. Eight children were born to the union, six of whom survive. Those surviving are: Mrs. C. H. Van Pelt, Marshfield, Ind.; Miss Mabel Wurtsbaugh, Danville; Mrs. Raymond Harper, Danville; R. L. Wurtsbaugh, Chicago; R. M. Wurtsbaugh, Danville, and Clyde Wurtsbaugh, Danville. Other surviving relatives include 14 grandchildren and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: J. S. Butler, Aurora; T. J. Welch, Waco, Tex., and Mrs. Ella Prass, Peru, Ind. Two children, Harry Lawrence Wurtsbaugh and Alfred R. Wurtsbaugh, and one brother, M. W. Welch, are deceased. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Central Christian church, the Rev. J. E. Foster officiating. Following the services the body will be taken to West Lebanon, Ind., for burial in the West Lebanon cemetery.   --typed by Walt W
