Paul E. Worthington, 64, 2221 N. 21st St., Lafayette, died at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, July 31, in St. Elizabeth hospital. He had been ill the past two months. He was born in Lafayette April 10, 1922. He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was educated in schools in the Lafayette area and attended Jefferson High School. He was married Oct. 16, 1971 to Helen Ida Rhode, who survives. He was employed as a machinist for TRW, Ross Gear Division for 23 years, retiring Feb. 2, 1983. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 492, West Lafayette. He was an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Ronald Worthington, Lafayette and Richard Worthington, Sebring, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ernest (Karon) Stingley, Lafayette, and Mrs. John (Sheryl) Rainey, Attica; a brother, Robert Worthington, Buffalo; two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Jean) Harvey, West Lafayette, and Mrs. Arthur (Delores) Thornbrough, Fowler, and 15 grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Ima Carter, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Hippensteel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Henry C. Stolldorf officiating. Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 492. Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the cancer society.
