CATES - Curgy Woolwine, 75, Cates, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday in Veterans Hospital at Veterans Hospital where he had been a patient two years. He was a former resident of Newport and Danville and had lived in Cates since 1942. A son of Christ and Zephra Clark Woolwine, he was born June 8, 1894, at Cartersville, Ky. He was married Oct. 26, 1921, to Olevia Alice Martin who died Jan. 2, 1969. Surviving are three sons, Curtis of Cates, Robert of Rt. 2, Kingman, and Rolland of Rt. 1, Kingman; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Mrs. Grace Bloomfield and Mrs. Betty Halsey of Gary, and two half-brothers, William Woolwine of Gary and Russell Woolwine of Rt. 2, Kingman. A grandson and two half-brothers preceded Mr. Woolwine in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home at Covington, where friends may call. Rev. Larry McMillan will be the minister, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.   -- jlr

COVINGTON – Curgy Woolwine, age 75, a resident of Cates since 1942, died at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Ill. where he had been two years. He was born June 8, 1894 in Cartersville, Ky., the son of Christ and Zephra Clark Woolwine. He was married Oct. 26, 1961 to Olevia Alice Martin, and she preceded him in death Jan. 2, 1969. Mr. Woolwine was a veteran of World War I. He formerly lived in Newport and Danville, Ill. Surviving are: three sons, Curtis of Cates, Robert of Kingman Rt. 2, and Rolland of Kingman Rt. 1; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Mrs. Grace Bloomfield and Mrs. Betty Halsey, both of Gary; two half-brothers, William Woolwine of Gary and Russell Woolwine of Kingman Rt. 2. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild and two half brothers. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev.
