WOOD, Marvin - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Services were conducted at Plymouth, Ind., on Feb, 14 for a Veedersburg native and former Hillsboro resident, Marvin Wood. Burial was in New Oak Hill Cemetery at Plymouth. He had been a resident of Plymouth for 38 years. Mr. Wood, 73, of 207 E. Jefferson St., Plymouth, was a former Marshall County Highway Superintendent. He died Feb. 12 after a three-week illness. At one time he was an auditor for the State Gross Income Tax Division. He was a contractor and roadbuilder in the state and developed the Lakewood Addition at Plymouth. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plymouth, Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge, Scottish Rite of South Bend and Moose Lodge. He had been active in Rotary Club and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce. A World War I veteran he was also a member of the American Legion. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and attended Wabash College. Mr. Wood was the son of Charles W. and Emma Myers Wood and was born on Aug. 29, 1897 at Veedersburg. He was married to Maude E. Harshbarger of Waynetown. She died in 1966. On Sept. 15, 1967, he was wed to Bunella Fishburn. Surviving are the wife; two sons, Maurice Wood of St. Louis and Thomas A. Wood of Oshkosh, Wis.; a brother, Henry of Waynetown; six grandchildren, and four cousins, Mrs. Wilma Shadley of Hillsboro and Mrs. Mary Starnes, Chester Harper and Thomas Harper, all of Crawfordsville.    --– jlr
