Hillsboro, Nov. 23.-Rev. John Kirkpatrick, of Indianapolis, former Hillsboro minister, conducted the funeral service for Lewis L. Wood at the Crumley & Son funeral home in Hillsboro Sunday afternoon. Rev. Kirkpatrick was assisted by the local Methodist minister, Rev. James Wire. Mesdames Lucille Parnell, Mabel Brown, Mildred Cooper and Vera Shade, accompanied by Mrs. Esther Harris sang, "At the Dawning Afterwhile," and "That Beautiful Land." The pall bearers were William Nine, Lyron Ford, Joe Newman, Tom Taylor, Frank Deth, Jewel Tinsley, Charles C. Cooper and Kenneth McCutchan. Flower bearers were Emma Hershberger, Pearl Birge, Martha Lowe, Sara Chatt, Eugenia Williams, Ruth Ford, Della Hesler    --typed by Walt W

Hillsboro, Nov. 19 -- Lewis L. Wood, 71, retired Hillsboro business man, died at his home here Thursday night from a heart ailment. Mr. Wood had been engaged in business in Hillsboro for forty years until his retirement two years ago. A retail grocer here many years, he had previously been a barber. The son of James and Orpha Osborne Wood, he was born in Hillsboro March 22, 1877. He was married to Lena Wyand in 1904. Mr. and Mrs. Wood resided continuously in the same residence here where they began housekeeping following their marriage. Mr. Wood was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist church; the Hillsboro Masonic lodge and the Scottish Rite and Shrine in Indianapolis. The widow, who is bedfast, survives, together with a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hargis of Ashton, Ida.; a brother, Freeman Wood, also living in the west and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Wyand, of Hillsboro, who had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Wood for many years, and Paul Wyand. Funeral services will be conducted from the Crumley and Son Funeral home in Hillsboro at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, in …….  ----typed by Walt W

Lewis L. Wood, 71 , a prominent business man of Hillsboro for more than 40 years died at his home here at 7:45 Thursday morning. Death was due to a heart ailment.  Mr. Wood retired from the mercantile business more than two years ago on account of ill health and has been in declining health for the past several months.  Mrs. Wood, his wife, was stricken with paralysis on July 7 and remains in a serious condition, not knowing of the death of her husband.  Lewis L. Wood was the son of James and Orpha Osborn Wood, born in Hillsboro March 22, 1 877.  In 1904 he was married to Miss Lena Wood, of Hillsboro and they went to housekeeping in the home where he died.  He was affiliated with the Hillsboro Masonic
Order and Knights of Pythias; of the Scottish Rite and Shrine of Indianapolis. Before entering the mercantile business he operated a barber shop in Hillsboro for several years.  Survivors are the widow,
one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Hargis of Ashton, Idaho and one brother, Freeman Wood, also of the west; several nieces and nephews.  He also leaves two brothers-in-law, Ralph Wyand who had made his home with his sister and husband; Mr. and Mrs. Wood for the past several years and Paul Wyand of Indianapolis - transcribed by kbz
