WILLIAMSPORT β Donald Delos βDonβ Wood, 78, 201 Lincoln St., Williamsport, died at 7:18 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000 in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been hospitalized since June 6. He was born Feb. 14, 1922 in Fair Oaks, the son of Roy and Hazel Kimble Wood. He married Joan Brant Aug. 27, 1943 in Williamsport. She preceded in death March 30, 1992. He lived most of his life in the Warren County and Williamsport area. He attended Mt. Ayr and Williamsport schools, graduating from Attica High School in 1940. He served with the United States Navy during World War II from 1942-1945. He was an Indiana State Trooper, working from the Lafayette Post from 1050-1975 retiring as a sergeant. He later worked as security director at Wyman Gordon (Krupp Gerlach) in Danville, Ill., retiring in 1987. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #3318 of Attica and the American Legion #259 of Williamsport. He enjoyed woodworking and furniture refinishing. Survivors include: two sons, Jon Wood, Putnamville and David Wood, Williamsport; a daughter, Donna (Steve) Barnhart, St. Peters, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kristel Blair, Billy Kirkman and Christopher Wood. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Wood and a daughter-in-law, Letha Wood. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial with military and law enforcement rites will be in Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. β jlr
