Newtown – William V. Witt, 77, former Newtown resident died Sunday night in a Carmel Hospital following a broken hip received 10 days ago. He was a retired farmer. Born in Newtown he moved his family to Carmel 25 years ago. His wife, the former Clara Gray died in June 1950. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Louise Purcell and Mrs. Rosemary Monroe, all of near Carmel and a brother, Clint Witt of Francesville.
NEWTOWN--William V. Witt, 76, a retired farmer, died Sunday about 10 p. m. at a hospital in Carmel. He had broken his hip 10 days ago. Mr. Witt, who would have been 77 this month, moved with his family to Carmel 25 years ago. Born May 15, 1877, near Newtown, he was the son of James and Mary Sewell Witt. He married Clara Gray of Newtown who preceded him in death in June, 1950. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Louise Purcell, and Mrs. Rosemary Monroe, all of near Carmel; one brother, Clint of Francesville, and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p. m. (CDT) at the Newtown Presbyterian Church. The body will lie in state for one hour preceding services. Burial will be in Newtown Cemetery. --typed by Walt W
