WITHERSPOON, Jacob - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Jacob A. Witherspoon, age 68 passed away at his home at RR 2, Veedersburg on Oct 14, 1955. He was born Feb 18, 1887 at Fairmount, Ill, the son of George and Ella Iles Witherspoon.  He married Ora B. Moffett in 1908. To this union were born five children.  Two of his daughters passed away in infancy and he leaves to survive him, the wife; one son, Willard Witherspoon of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Mrs. Winifred Proffitt of Tilton and Miss Ruth Witherspoon at home; and one granddaughter, Christine Witherspoon; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Lewis of Corpus Christi, Texas and Miss Edith Witherspoon of Iowa. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a former Funeral Director of Fairmount, Ill and was employed at the Neal Gravel Company for several years until his retirement two years ago. – kbz
