STONE BLUFF — Lewis R. Wineinger, 85, 57 W. Osborn Prairie Road, Veedersburg (Stone Bluff), died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 in Provena United Samaritan Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. He had been hospitalized for two weeks. He was born March 23, 1917 in Danville, Ill., the son of Richard and Ruby Bell Wineinger. He married Elizabeth Kingery Aug. 5, 1936 in Danville by the Rev. James Fisher. She survives. He attended Danville High School. He worked for one year at the Wabash River Ordinance Plant. He then took a three year apprenticeship at the C & EI Railroad in Danville, where he was a car builder and continued working there for 10 years. In 1948 he farmed until he retired in 1982. During this time he also worked as a county highway foremen in Fountain County; as a county loan inspector for the U.S.D.A. office in Fountain County for several years. He worked one year as a welder at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica. He served on the Veedersburg-Van Buren School Board during the consolidation period. He was a 54-year member of the Stone Bluff United Methodist Church where he was active for several years in various positions. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Joyce A. (Ed) Sichts, Attica; a sister, Mary Ohl, Danville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Cindy (Dan) Faulkner, Veedersburg and Rick (Pam) Sichts, Attica; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Marlatt and Eva Wineinger and two brothers, Bobby and Bert Wineinger. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Stanley Hicks officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stone Bluff United Methodist Church or the Provena Regional Cancer Center, 806 N. Logan Ave., Danville, Ill. – jlr
