Veedersburg—The son of a Kingman Route 1 couple was killed in an airplane crash at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Nassau Sound, north of Bird Island in Florida.

  Dead is Paul F. Wilson, 32, formerly of Crawfordsville and son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilson of rural Kingman.
 Mr. Wilson, who held a commercial pilot’s license, was piloting a two-seated Piper Cherokee Plane on a flight from Tampa, Fla., to Charleston, S.C., on to New Orleans, then back to Jacksonville.

  According to authorities, the aircraft was returning from New Orleans and went into a rolling dive when the engine stalled.
  A passenger, Roy E. Dillon of Tampa was rescued by nearby fishermen before the plane sank. An official report has not been made as to the cause of Mr. Wilson’s death. However, it is believed he drowned.

  Mr. Wilson, a member of the Naval Reserve, was a sonar technician first class. He had served 13 years active duty in the Navy.
  Born Aug. 1, 1942, in Scott County, he was the son of Roy E. and Bessie A. Turner Wilson. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville High. His naval training was at the Naval Training Center at San Diego, Calif. He also attended submarine school at New London, Conn.

  Survivors include his parents; five sisters, Mrs. Charles (Doris) Crispin of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Gordon (Caroline) Suiter of Crawfordsville Route 5, Mrs. Paul (Catherine) Williams of Durand, Mich., Evangeline, in nurses’ training at Evansville and Karen at home; three brothers, David S. of Kingman Route 1, James W. of Kankakee, Ill., and Stephen M. of Orlando, Fla., serving in the Navy; and several nieces and nephews.


  Friends will be received from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the Fishero-Dickerson Funeral Home.
  Services were there at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Noel Burton officiating. Burial was in Centennial Cemetery with military rites by the Naval Reserve of Danville and Veedersburg American Legion.
