WILSON, Merble - KIA Korea

One of four Hoosiers, whose names appeared in the latest casualty list of the Korean War, Pfc. Merble E. Wilson has been missing in action since Feb 15, 1951.  His mother Mrs. Hazel Irene Smith of Clark’s Hill has been notified by the Department of Defense that her son is declared dead.  He was in the Fifth Cavalry regiment of the Fist Division and had been overseas 29 months when he was reported Missing In Action.  He was with the first American units to be ordered to South Korea from Japan.  He was the son of Merble E. Wilson Sr formerly of Hillsboro who was killed in an accident in 1948. His grandmother Mrs. Amanda Bilsland formerly of Hillsboro resides in Waynetown.
