WAYNETOWN — Ray (Red) Willis, 68, who had resided on a farm five miles northeast of Hillsboro for the past 25 years, died at his home at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. He had been in failing health for four months and been seriously ill for five days. Born July 8, 1897, he was the son of Clay and Mary Jane Lochard Willis. He was twice married, the first time to Hazel Kochel, who died in 1943. He was married July 28, 1949, to Frances Bell of Veedersburg. Mr. Willis, who was a farmer all of his life, served in the forces for two years during World War I. He was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church. The survivors include the widow; four sons, Paul of Veedersburg and Ray Jr., Homer and Keith, all at home; two daughters, Waneta and Martha, both at home; two stepsons, Joe Bell of Lafayette and James Bell of Indianapolis; two grandsons; a granddaughter; a step-granddaughter; a step-grandson; a sister, Mrs. Ida Small of New Richmond, and a brother, Melvin Willis of Romney. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. --typed by Walt W
