Ward S. Williams, 70, of Longboat Key, Fla., a former Fountain County prosecutor, died Saturday afternoon at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He had been admitted earlier in the day and had been ill two months. Williams had practiced law in Covington with the firm of Williams and Williams for 36 years before his retirement in 1972. Born October 4, 1910, in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Robert H. and Winifred Stanley Williams. He was married Feb. 10, 1934, to Penelope Osborn, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Robert of Covington and Michael of Corpus Christi, Tex.; a daughter, Susan of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren and a step grandchild. The body was cremated. There were no local services. The family requested that memorials be in the form of contributions to the Salvation Army. – jlr
