Hillsboro Nov 24 - Belmont Pleasant Williams, age 93, Fountain County's last Mexican War veteran, died at his home here Sunday afternoon about 3:30 infirmities of old age being the cause of his demise. Belmont Pleasant Williams was born in Mason County, Kentucky Nov 27, 1826 removed to Fountain County at an early age. He was married more than 60 years ago to Miss Adias McBroom who preceded him in death about 10 years ago. To this union was born 10 children, but three of them now living, John J; Charles E. and Mrs. William Sandell all of Hillsboro.  Mr. Williams has been a man of remarkable intellect and even up until the hour of his death his mind was clear and active, being one of the pioneers of this vicinity he could tell many interesting incidents and until he became too deaf for ordinary conversation he was ever fond of
telling of the early settlement the people and the ways they had to make the best of life thereby. As well as being Fountain County's last surviving Mexican War veteran, he also had the distinction of being the
last one of his company and so far as can be verified the last of his regiment. Funeral service will be conducted at the Christian Church, Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be made beside his wife in the old
town cemetery   --- kbz
