WILKINSON, Lawrence - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

WEST LEBANON, Ind. (CNS) – Lawrence Wilkinson, 76, a resident of Shawnee Township on Attica Route 4 the past 40 years, died yesterday (March 4, 1969) at the Community Hospital. He had been a patient there two hours and had been ill several years. Born April 19, 1892, at New Market, he was the son of George and Eva Goble Wilkinson. He was married in 1918 to Sarah Griffin, who died in 1919. He was married in 1920 to Gladys Booe at Veedersburg, who survives. Mr. Wilkinson was a veteran of the Mexican border action against Pancho Villa and of World War I. He was a former member of the American Legion Post at Newtown and formerly served with the Texas Rangers. He formerly was employed at the cabinet factory in Attica and the Alcoa Aluminum plant at Lafayette. He was a cement contractor at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Other survivors include six sons, Lester of Chicago, Richard of Attica, Robert of West Lebanon, Merlin and Larry, both of Peru, Ind., and Billy Joe of Attica Route 4; four daughters, Mrs. Ella Carter of Peru, Mrs. Loreda Calvert of West Lebanon, Mrs. Carolyn Cildress and Mrs. Marjie Crowder, both of Attica; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Kellison of Los Angeles, Calif., Miss Mary and Miss Della Wilkinson, both of Elkhart, and 34 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST at the Crowmer & Siddens Funeral Home in West Lebanon. The Rev. A. L. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Friday.  – jlr
