Waynetown - James Wilkinson 94 years of age, died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lew Roberts of this place yesterday at 1:30 following an illness of six months. Death resulted from a complication of diseases. For 70 years "Uncle Jimmy" Wilkinson has been one of the respected citizens of the county and bore a wide acquaintance. He was born at Groesbeck, Hamilton County, Ohio in 1827 and when a young man learned the cooper's trade. He was married to Eliza Wert in Ohio for his first wife and when young came to Montgomery County and settled in the Clore neighborhood west of Alamo. With but little to start life's battles the young couple went to work farming and by their frugality they prospered and became possessed of a considerable amount of land, at the same time rearing a large family. After the death of Mr. Wilkinson's first wife he later married Maria Ann Livingston of Wallace and several children were also born to this union. This wife also preceded Mr. Wilkinson in death several years. Mr. Wilkinson was one of the most prosperous farmers of western Montgomery County. He was also a successful stock raiser and in his younger days bought horses extensively which he shipped to the Cincinnati markets. He was a great lover of horses and his farms were always stocked with the best of them. He has been a member of the Masonic lodge for 70 years, joining this body at Alamo. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Horse Thief Detective Association. In politics he was a staunch Democrat. Deceased is survived by the following children : W.T. Wilkinson and Mrs. Foster Fye of Hillsboro; Mrs. Guy V. Livengood and Alonzo Wilkinson of Waynetown; Mrs. George Suydam and Joseph Wilkinson of Indianpaolis; Mrs. Sherman Dwiggins of Attica; D.M. Wilkinson and George D. Wilkinson of Crawfordsville. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon. Short services will be held at 1:15 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lew Roberts. At 2:15 services will be held at the Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Davis of Hillsboro. At the church the Masonic service will also be read. Burial at Masonic cemetery here.

There are TWO James Wilkinsons, the other one (26 Feb 1810- 24 Feb 1900) (his wife was Mary Ann Patton) and this one (wife Mary Ann Livingston 20 Feb 1841 -25 Aug 1903 married 3 Jan 1872) and Eliza Ann Wert (25 Jan 1826 - 20 Jan 1887 married 28 March 1847 Hamilton Co Ohio) - this James is James M. I've not found a connection to the two YET

Ann died in Aug 1903 and James died in Jan 1903. Since they are in the same plot, and Ann is the wife of James, I think it's safe to say they are a married couple. The date on Ann's stone matches James Wilkinson, and his children, also those of Eliza Wert, also match.
