WILKINSON, Ida Philpott

Ida C. Wilkinson, daughter of Jasper N. and Sarah Jane (Livingston) Philpott, was born on a farm 5 miles SW of Wallace, Jackson Twp, Fountain County, Ind Nov 9, 1867. Her she grew to womanhood and on Nov 22, 1886 she was united in marriage to Ira E. Wilkinson who passed away Jan 21, 1935. After their marriage they began housekeeping in Wallace where Mr. Wilkinson was engaged in the mercantile business until his death. When a young woman she united with the church under the pastorate of Rev. John T. Phillips and later, when taking up her residence in Wallace she placed her membership with the Wallace Christian Church where she was a very active member. She was also a member of Wallace Chapter Order of Eastern Star She had been in declining health for a number of months and at near 1 p.m. Sunday July 28 she had a severe heart attack and in a moment had passed into her merited reward at age 86 years seven months and nineteen days, leaving to mourn one daughter, Mrs. Jewel Steinbaugh, Attica, one son, Eston Wilkinson, Wallace, one granddaughter, Sarah Jane Stinebaugh, Attica, one sister, Mrs. Jennie Wilkinson, Wallace, one brother Lee Philipott, Covington, many other relatives and many friends. Her entire life had been lived in the one community where she was known as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a good neighbor, a true friend and a christian lad. She has gone her reward, which is a happy one for one who had lived the splendid and devoted life that she had lived.
