Eston Lee Wilkinson, 65, prominent Wallace merchant and former Democratic Committee Chairman in Fountain County, died Monday night at the Lakeview Hospital in Danville, Illinois from injuries suffered in a traffic accident last Friday. The mishap occurred on US 41 near Rob Roy when Mr. Wilkinson's car collided with a semi-trailer. He had been a patient at the Danville hospital since the accident. Mr. Wilkinson who operated a mercantile business in Wallace for a number of years, also served two terms as superintendent of the state highway garage in Veedersburg. Born Jan 10, 1888 in Jackson Township, Mr. Wilkinson was the son of Ira E and Ida Philpott Wilkinson. He married Bessie Clore Wert Jan 19, 1909. Mr. Wilkinson was a member of the Wallace Christian Church, Masonic Lodge & OES. He attended Wallace School. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. James Steinbaugh, Attica; a stepson, Quentin Wert, Indianapolis; two grandchildren, a niece and an uncle, Lee Philpott, Covington. His wife preceded him in death last December 19. Funeral services wil be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial in Wallace Lutheran Cemetery, with Rev. John Servies of Crawfordsville officiating. - kbz

Eston L. “Jack” Wilkinson, Wallace businessman died Monday night about 11:30 at the Lake View Hospital in Danville where he had been a patient since Friday night as the result of an autotruck crash on US 41 near Rob Roy.  He operated a general store in Wallace for many years was former Fountain County chairman of the Democratic Party, a member of the Wallace Christian Church/Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.  He was born in Jackson Township, the son of Ira and Ida Philpott Wilkinson. His wife, the former Bessie Clore died last December. Survivors include a stepson, Quentin Wert of Indianapolis, two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. James Steinbaugh of Attica. Funeral services were Thursday afternoon at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro with burial in the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery. – kbz
