She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed in the Fountain County Section of Local History at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

COVINGTON – Mrs. Gale Wilkey, age 69, of Alamogoda, New Mex., a former resident of Covington, died Saturday, March 21, at her home there. Mrs. Wilkey was born Aug. 14, 1901, at Rossville, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Nellie Kinney Marrs. She was married to Harold Wilkey, who preceded her in death. She was a 1928 graduate of the Lake View Memorial School of Nursing. She was a housewife during the school years of her daughter and she returned to nursing at Lake View in about 1950. She took a postgraduate course in obstetrics at Lying-In Hospital in Chicago and was a head nurse many years in· Lake View’s labor and delivery section. Co-workers at the hospital and nurses who took student training under her described her as a “kind and considerate person, and a very efficient and good nurse.” Mrs. Wilkey stepped down as a head nurse in labor and delivery because of illness, but returned after as a general duty nurse on the medical floor. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, Fortnightly Bridge Club and Alumni Association of Lake View Memorial Hospital. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. John (Lois Jane) King of Alamogorda, N. Mex.; one brother, Myron Marrs of Tuscola, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Maxine Moore of River Forrest, Ill.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by twin daughters and one sister. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Rossville, Ill , cemetery. The Rev. P. J. Hamilton, former pastor of the First United Methodist Church here, officiated. The Hegg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
