Mrs. John Wilder died at her home in Northside at 10 minutes after 4 o'clock on Tuesday morning. She has been ill for several weeks with heart trouble. Funeral services at the Methodist Church yesterday afternoon were conducted by Rev.J.B. Johnson of Flora, assisted by Rev. F.J. Beisel. Burial in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Samantha J, the eldest daughter of William and Mary R. Alward, was born in Fountain County, Aug. 31, 1856. She married John Wilder June 4, 1872. Three children were b. to them, two boys and a girl all of whom are dead. In her youth she united with the Newlight Church at Wallace, afterwards moving her membership to the Waveland Methodist Church. She was also a member of Martha Washington Lodge, Degree of Rebekah of Crawfordsville. A part of her early childhood was spent in Illinois and Pennsylvania. She came to Waveland with her parents when about 16. After she was marr. she lived in Fountain and Montgomery counties. Her husband preceded her in death a few months ago. She leaves behind an aged mother, one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Sites; two brothers, John Alward of Waveland and George Alward of Crawfordville; one granddaughter, Mrs. Alta Case of Rockville; and two gr. grandsons, Warren and John Case and many friends and neighbors who mourn her departure. She was a good neighbor and always willing and anxious to help those in need or distress.
