Mellott - Raymond Archer Wiggins, 45 of this community died Friday evening in Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been in failing health 3 years. Born March 1, 1918 two and a half miles NE of Mellott, he was a son of Thomas and Fanine Archer Wiggins. He was married May 10, 1941 to Louise Pearson of Independence. Mr. Wiggins attended the Methodist Church in Newtown and was a past master of Hillsboro F&AM Lodge. He was in the Seabees 3 years during WWII, his services including Hawaii and Iwo Jima. Surviving are his wife, Louise; a son, Robert and daughter, Sharon at home; the parents in Mellott and two sisters, Mrs. Russell Coffman and Mrs. Carl Fauth of Mellott. Funeral arrangements are not yet complete.

Mellott - Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 12, at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown for Raymond Archer Wiggins, age 44, who died Friday night, Nov. 9, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis. The Rev. Charles Sites, pastor of the Newtown Methodist Church officiated. Burial was in the Waynetown Cemetery. Mr. Wiggins had been in failing health for three years with a lung disease and complications but death was unexpected. He had driven to the hospital Thursday afternoon. Death was due to pneumonia. Mr. Wiggins was born on a farm two and one-half miles northeast of Mellott on March 1, 1918, son of Thomas and Fannie Archer Williams. He was married May 10, 1941, to Louise Pearson of Independence. She survives. He attended Newtown Methodist Church and was a past master of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. Mr. Wiggins served three years in the Seabees during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands and on Iwo Jima. Other survivors include a son, Robert, and a daughter, Sharon, both at home; his parents, of Mellott and two sisters, Mrs. Russell Coffman of Mellott and Mrs. Carl Fauth of near Mellott. --typed by Walt W

Music was furnished by Mrs. Lowell Linville, playing on the organ.
Pall bearers were Manson Simmons, Wayne Riley, W. A. Wiggins, Lloyd Clapp, Harold Bantz, Maurice Lee Lawson and Buell Hibbs who also assisted with the florai tributes.
Burial was made in the Masonic Cemetery near Waynetown.
Military graveside services were conducted by Legionnaires from the Newtown and Hillsboro Posts.
