Mrs. Fannie E. Wiggins, 86, of Mellott, died Wednesday (Dec 17, 1969) at the Carmen Nursing Home in Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since July. Mrs. Wiggins was born Feb. 18, 1883, northeast of Mellott, daughter of Charles and Laura Short Archer. She was married to Thomas L. Wiggins on Oct. 5, 1902, in the family home. He preceded her in death in September, 1965. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Lenora) Fauth and Mrs. Russell (Irene) Coffman, both of Mellott; six grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond, in November, 1962, and a brother, Jim Archer in January, 1965. Mrs. Wiggins was the last surviving member of one of Richland Township's oldest families. Her grandfather was reported to be the first child born to a pioneer family in that area. She was educated in Ray district and Mellott grade schools, and had been a member of New Antioch Christian Church of Mellott since its establishment. She was also a member of Hillsboro Order of the Eastern Star No. 194 and a 40-year member of the Pythian Sisters of Newtown. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. Walter C. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
