MELLOTT – Mrs. Fannie E. Wiggins, 86, died Wednesday morning in the Carmen Nursing Home at Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since July. Mrs. Wiggins was born near Mellott on Feb. 18, 1883, to Charles and Laura Short Archer. She was married on Oct. 5, 1902, to Thomas L. Wiggins at Mellott. She had been a member of the New Antioch Christian Church in Mellott since it’s establishment. She was a member of the Hillsboro Chapter 194 Order of Eastern Star, and a 40-year member of the Pythian Sisters of Newtown. Mrs. Wiggins was educated in the Ray district and Mellott grade schools. She is the last member of one of Richland Township’s pioneer families. It is believed her grandfather was one of the first white children to be born in the township. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965; a son, Raymond, in 1962, and a brother, Jim Archer, in 1965. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Lenora) Fauth and Mrs. Russell (Irene) Coffman, both of Mellott; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Louise Wiggins of Lafayette; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons. Services will be conducted by Rev. Walter C. Williams at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home at. Waynetown. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.   -– jlr
