COVINGTON – Funeral services for John C. Wichus, age 72, of Danville, Ill., father of John J. Wichus of Covington, who died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Lake View Memorial Hospital, Danville, Ill., were held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Danville. The Rev. C. B. Motsett officiated and burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Danville. Mr. Wichus was born May 25, 1897, in Glasgow, Scotland, the son of Anthony and Barbara Kinder Wichus. He married Sophia Markowski in Westville in 1920, and she preceded him in death on April 30, 1969. Surviving Mr. Wichus are: two daughters, Mrs. Frances Gibson and Mrs. Marianne Willett, both of Danville, Ill.; two sons, John J. of Covington and M. Sgt. Raymond C., with the Marine Corps in Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, two sisters; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A retired miner, Mr. Wichus also was employed at Olin-Mathieson Corp., and Neff Concrete Co. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Westville Veterans of Foreign Wars. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by the Westville American Legion Post 51. The Urbas Funeral Home of Westville was in charge of arrangements.   -– jlr
