Dr, A,C, Holley as coroner of the county was called top Stone Bluff at 9 o’clock Friday night by the sudden death of B F Whiting an old soldier of that place who was taken very sick about 7:30. He lived alone but his son-in-law Charles Brooke had gone in to see him after supper and the old veteran seemed to be enjoying himself smoking as usual. When he went to strike a match to smoke another pipeful, he was seized with a severe pain in his head and back and asked Brooks to help him to bed, This was done but relief did not come and after saying, “Well, Charlie I am going, he relapsed into unconsciousness and died in a few minutes. Dr. Holley examined the body and decided that death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. --- kbz
