Funeral services were held on Thursday for Winfred E. Wagoner, 59, a native of Fountain County and graduate of Veedersburg HS in 1907. Mr. Wagoner was acting president of the Ball State Teacher's College in
Muncie. He had been affiliated with the college since 1924, serving as a comptroller and last year as the acting president. His teaching career was started in Fountain County. He is survived by the wife, two sons, a
daughter, the father and three sisters. Burial was in Rushville, Indiana.
(Note: His Death Certificate #17580 gives his his address/death place as 2119 W. Jackson in Muncie; wife is Glassie L. Wagoner. He died of Leukemia 2 years duration. Lists him as a Controller for Ball State College. Father; Wm. Alfred Wagoner born Indiana Mother: Linevra Clauser b. Indiana. Glossie was informant. Bids of the proposed Industrial Arts building for Ball State College were opened early Thursday afternoon by members of the State Teachers College Board in session in the office of Dr. John R. Emens, Ball State president…. Board members assembled in Muncie earlier in the day to pay tribute to Winfred E. Muncie, Ind – Winfred E. Wagoner, 59, comptroller of Ball State college and former acting president died today after a long illness. He had been connected with the college since 1924 and after the resignation of Dr. LA Pittenger as president in 1942 served as acting president until the selection of John R. Emens a year ago. Before coming to Ball State he had taught in the schools of Fountain, Shelby and Rush counties and once served as county superintendent in Rush County. He is survived by his widow, two sons, a daughter, his father and three sisters.
