WHITTINGTON, Robert Dale

KINGMAN - Seven-year-old Robert Dale Whittington died early Tuesday morning as a result of injuries received in a bicycle-auto accident, and became Fountain County's first 1969 traffic victim.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald F. Whittington, Kingman the youth was riding his bicycle across the Kingman-Veedersburg blacktop north of Kingman, near his home, when he was struck by the left front fender of an auto driven by Mrs. Hazel Walters, 45, of Rt. 2, Kingman.
The accident occurred at 8:15 p.m. Monday evening, and young Whittington died 12:04 a.m. (EDT) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. He suffered a basal skull fracture and possible internal injuries.
Robert Dale Whittington was born April 6, 1962, in Danville, Ill., the son of Gerald and Roberta Wann Whittington.
Surviving with the parents are one brother, Wayne 11 and one sister, Jeri, both at home. Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Fuson and Irene Whittington, of Rt, 2, Kingman, and his maternal great grandmother, Mrs. Anna Wann, Rt. 2, Kingman.
He was a student in the first grade at Kingman Grade School, and had been a life resident of Kingman.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 29, 2 p.m. (EDT) at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral, home Wednesday afternoon and evening.
